God gave simple instructions to all Believers in the following verse: 2 Cor. 6:14 "Do not be yoked together with unbelievers. For what do righteousness and wickedness have in common? Or what fellowship can light have with darkness?"

Christian Investors – Who Are You Funding?

There’s been a LOT of money made on Wall Street in the past year.  Here are a few examples of stock price increases from March 2009 to Mar 2010:

Bank of America (BAC) – up 348%

American Express (AXP) – up 285%

JP Morgan Chase (JPM) – up 169%

Alcoa (AA) – up 158%

Caterpillar (CAT) – up 156%

Not bad for one year!  Granted, few people picked this exact basket of stocks.  Most may have invested in these companies via mutual funds, hedge funds, Exchange Traded Funds, etc.  Now, I don’t think that these profits are not going to be stuck under mattresses for “safekeeping”.  Although some investors will keep their profits in the market, others will cash out their profits, while leaving the rest.  Obviously, this includes Christian investors.

We’ve all heard of social investing, because it’s becoming increasingly popular.  Some funds, for example, only invest in “green” technologies and products.  Some stay away from tobacco, alcohol, firearm and gambling companies.  There are also a few Christian funds, such as the “Timothy Plan” and the “New Covenant Growth Fund”, and I believe that they also weed out some large companies, such as Google, because of their profits from hosting and advertising pornography.  Christians investing in companies, like Google, while looking the other way remind me of that famous scene in “Casablanca”.  The owner of Rick’s Café, Rick (Humphrey Bogart), is being told by the local Police Captain Renault (Claude Rains) to immediately close his establishment, while the Captain loudly proclaims, “I am shocked, shocked to find out that gambling is going on here!”.  At that same moment, a croupier, from Rick’s gambling area, approaches Captain Renault and discretely says, “Your winnings, sir.”

Christian investors should ask themselves a simple question – “Where can a portion of my investment funds make the greatest impact for the Kingdom AND still have the chance for a good Return on Investment?” The large Christian mutual funds are not supporting the entrepreneur Christians and rightly so, because they are not risk takers.  These Christian entrepreneurs need angel investor capital to complete God’s mission for them.  They’re creating the new companies, new jobs, and new technologies, while impacting God’s Kingdom in the marketplace.  They intend to do business God’s Way, but they need your support - TODAY!  Christian investors, don’t let them down!
