What’s YOUR Purpose in Life?

We’re all familiar with those high school career assessment tests that try to determine exactly what careers we’re best suited for. I’ve never really put much stock in those tests, because they always seemed to try to ram a lot of square pegs into round holes just to fit someone’s test model. Maybe that’s why, according to pre-recession US Bureau of Labor statistics*, the average person changes jobs almost 9 times between the ages of 18 and 32! Nine times over the course of just 14 years!

During this current recession, we all know people who have been “downsized” from what seemed like long-term, stable and secure positions or have suddenly lost their job when their company abruptly closed its doors. Psychologists say that losing a job like that is one of the most traumatic things we can experience in life. Now, multiply that trauma by the millions of unemployed workers in our current economy. Unfortunately, these job losses are affecting both Christians and non-Christians alike. We can attest to that by the growing list of unemployed members in our church that we pray for weekly.
